As the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) state on their website, ‘If you can’t afford travel insurance, you can’t afford to travel’. It’s just not worth the risk to travel overseas without insurance cover. Hospital and repatriation costs to get a traveler back home can be horrendously expensive.
There is some excellent information about travel insurance available from the Insurance Council.
